Contacting Congress
This section contains advocacy materials you can use for contacting members of Congress about child survival and other issues. We have a sample letter, fax, and petition your chapter can use in support of the CHILD Act, which you can use as is or tailor to the specific legislator. If you are advocating on behalf of another issue, use the template materials to structure your letters. The blank SCCS letterhead is great for other SCCS-related business.
CHILD Act material - SCCS’s advocacy focus this spring is on the CHILD Act, the Child Health Investment for Long-term Development Act. The CHILD Act would secure funding for international child health programs and authorizes doubling the funds that currently go toward child health. You can find more information here. Use this letter, fax, or petition to express your personal support for the CHILD Act, or organize a campaign to collect letters or signatures to demonstrate widespread support on your campus.
Templates - Use these templates as a starting point if you’re interesting in advocating for an issue besides the CHILD Act. Just fill in specific information about the request you’re making and send it to your legislators. You can use this letter, fax, or petition.
